Richard Gürtler To me, with 79 minutes long "Winterlicht" album Seetyca reveals the very top of his exceptionally transporting soundcarving, where the listener is taken directly to the forefront of fascinatingly rewarding and tenebrously enveloping drone magnitudes. A headphone listening is strongly recommended too even if a slightly cleaner sound would add some extra bonus points. "Winterlicht" is prodigiously triumphant album and without doubt it belongs to the sonic pinnacles of 2017. Hats off to Seetyca and kudos to all guest friends who contributed to this gemstone as well as to the Winter-Light crew!!!

In.Visible.Generator Like Berkdrums says: Seetyca was never really on my screen. I love it uneasy and even noisy. Winterlicht is an breathtaking surprise for me. The key inside this kind of music is always a well done articulation of longform structures, so that it never drift into meaninglessness, and this album fit the bill absolutely with elegance and variation. A little bit edged in his mastering but at all, a earcatching masterpiece with a soft berlin schoolish final. Did i say that Seetyca is now on my screen? Favorite track: global chillage.

Berkdrums Hm, maybe I never gave Seetyca a fair chance/listen... always thought it was a little too dark and noisy for my taste but this album opened my eyes and ears..., going to check previous releases. Anyway, this is a stunning, very diverse album on which the magical winterseason is displayed exceptionally well!! Let the cold days come, I’m ready for them with these warm soothing tracks.. Awesome!!

about

'Winterlicht' is Seetyca's third full length album to be released on the Winter-Light label.

As the album title indicates the theme is that of the winter's light and comprises of 12 new tracks, combining deep drones and sparse musical pieces to create a vast wintry landscape. The opening track 'cold morning' invokes images of sunlight playing across fields steeped in deep white snow while your cold breath disappears in to the morning air. The title track 'winterlicht' is a slowly evolving darker, deeper 13 minute drone piece. Here the heavy mantle of winter steadily envelopes the listener, drawing the darkness of the nights ever nearer, as the cold winds howl and the ice begins to form, locking the landscape in to a frozen tundra.

The play between light and dark, the subtle use of environmental sounds and carefully chosen instruments, played by a stellar array of Seetyca's friends, is what makes this album truly engaging.

'Winterlicht' was conceived, played and recorded over three summers between 2014 - 2016.
